Hitting the Big Time...

Made it onto the Wired For Performance webpage with a picture and testimonial for Adam Morka. A great guy with lots of fitness and nutritional information that he has shared with me in order to make the most of my training. Check out his webpage for motivation or if you are looking for some help with your training.

Going North rather than South

Just finished a 2.25hr night ride of 50km of Durham's nicest gravel roads. A bit of snow and a bit chilly but a great way to get the hours.
Tempo keeps you warm!!!

I'm an idiot...

So apparently I'm on a Mandatory Rest Week this week... Broke my big toe changing a flat tire... Yes I was pushing hard on the tight tire and the rim rolled onto my toe....
THAT'S why I have a mechanic... Miss you Taylor.

Going Gluten Free...

Been doing some research and had some ideas of trying this for over a year now.... could have stemmed from too much time with Paleo Peter Glassford and Adam / Emily and their lives... but it seems like a neat idea.... after doing a fair bit of research and spending many hours talking to people who have gone G-Free, i was quite surprised at how Gluten / Wheat affects the body and how many people it has adverse affects on... Just finishing off the first week of the Experience and have started to settle into a new style of cooking and planning, and noticing some differences....

Great book that has a lot (too much) detailed info about Gluten and Wheat's affects on the body.... and have started to notice the feeling of "being more satisfied with less food" and that i have more energy than i thought i would considering the amount of food that i consume...

after conversations with Adam and Emily, i have also come to realize many of the other health benefits of going G-Free such as sleep quality, increased immunity, less bloating and more consistent energy levels due to the clean fuel that is going in.... less spiking of the insulin and the following crash.... there are also studies that show a relationship between gluten / wheat and mood, migraines, joint pain, energy levels, weight and ADHD .... not a bad list of things to get away from....
i will continue to post about this new life, but if anyone has advice / tips / recipes / thoughts, please let me know.... more information is always better!!!

Not a good start ...

Woke up at 545am to ride to school. Got 25min in and ran over a nail and then blew out the spare tube with my CO2. Saved by Sue before a quick shower and rushing off to school. Sometimes being healthy sucks...
